Rattles and shakers get your baby moving and have lots of other benefits too.
You could make your own shaker with a plastic bottle, tub or an egg box filled with dried pasta or rice - just make sure it's sealed safely inside.
Help your baby get a good grip of the shaker. This can build their coordination and once they start shaking, babies will begin to learn that their actions cause the sounds.
If you've got more than one shaker, shake out a simple beat and show your baby how music is made. Older babies might be able to copy you.
Copy your baby's shakes - this shows your baby how to take turns and makes them feel more confident.
