Singing songs with actions can make them a lot more engaging for your child. It helps build physical coordination and helps them to learn the words too.

Give you child plenty of time to respond with the right action like the families in the video below.

The benefits of singing action songs

  • Songs with actions are great for helping with your child's gross and fine motor skills and their physical coordination.
  • Actions and rhymes together can help children learn words more quickly as they are more engaged and link the words with the actions.
  • Rhymes are a great way of introducing new words in a fun way.
  • Rhyming helps children predict what words are coming and memorise them too, which is a great foundation for language.
  • Singing and signing at the same time can help with language development, particularly for children with conditions that affecttheir language skills.
  • Singing and performing the actions together can be a lot of fun and great for bonding.
