Topics: Red Arrows, parking, lager sellers, drink stations ... and nerves!<大象传媒_Rahul> Hi Ian, welcome to the chatroom <colin_hill> lots going on along the route, 'Bands on teh Run' every mile, plus Red Arrows flying over the tyne bridge at 11 <ian_donaldson> hi rahul <paul_smith> Where is the best place to park at the start? <jenny_walton> Jeff i was going to ask about that!!!!!!!1 <colin_hill> Red arrows are also doing a display at 1.15pm听 - that's awesome to watch... <colin_hill> There is no advertised parking at the start, but lots at the finish. <colin_hill> Jeff, what time are you planning on this year?? <D_H> Jeff you are full of excuses! <jenny_walton> i wonder if extra precaution have been taken after last years fatalities? <Jeff_Brown> I did learn a valuable lesson about training runs! I'd gone out without my mobile, wiht no money in my pocket and without telling my wife where I was going. Had to hobble four miles home, gotback about an hour after I said I'd be home - and it didn't go down very well with the missus (who was a bit worried...which was nice, I suppose). <D_H> did you stop for a pint? <jenny_walton> you men are all the same!!!!! <colin_hill> Every year we improve the event and this year is the same.听 Sadly nothing that we did or didn't do would have changed what happend last year, but I'll mention a few new ideas that are happening this year <ian_donaldson> what made you decide to do the run to start off with jeff <Jeff_Brown> I was on the John Reid Road at the time - which is a pub-free zone! (though I seem to recall someone had set up a stall, offering lager to the runners near the Temple Park Leisure Centre last year, which was very tempting...) <colin_hill> One new drink station on the route for a starter, plus 2 of the drink stations will be lucozade sport. <jenny_walton> that is good news getting drinks sponsored. <Jeff_Brown> I enjoyed it so much last year, Ian, I thought I just had to do it again. I ran the first 5 (1981-86), then again in '88 - but hadn't done it for 17 years. I'd reported on it for TV, but I'd forgotten just what great fun it is to take part. Devastated that I'll be a spectator again this year. <jenny_walton> well better go good luck with the run hugs to all <colin_hill> You may have noticed the 'Respect the Challenge' infromation in the magazines - which I have worked on with other leading race doctors and organisers. <colin_hill> by Jenny* <大象传媒_Rahul> Thanks Jenny! <大象传媒_Rahul> Be sure to check back to 大象传媒 Tyne on Sunday for all the pictures! <ian_donaldson> you must be a sadist jeff ha ha <大象传媒_Rahul> Hi Judith, thanks for joining the chatroom. <Clarky_Wilko> Hey Rahul!!! It's Clarky & Wilko!!! <colin_hill> Hi Judith, are you runing this year? <D_H> Colin why are you in army uniform in your pic? <judith_stonebridge> Hi this is my first half marathon starting to feel nervous <大象传媒_Rahul> Hi Clarky and Wilko! <Jeff_Brown> It was also qute funny, cos I'd run past people and hear them saying "Hey, it's that bloke off the telly! Is it Roger Tames??" Sadly, he's 10 years older than me and has even less hair... <ian_donaldson> big respect you jeff <colin_hill> AHHH good question, I was on the TV show 'SAS are you tough enough' and Catherine who I work with told me to send it in!
