Here is their report about meeting a Nasa astronaut. By Jenny and Phillipa On 2 March Major General Charlie Bolden visited Marden High School in North Tyneside.听 He talked to 1,000 children from 25 schools between the ages of听seven and 12. He explained to everyone about 'reaching your goals' and 'doing your best' in school. The astronaut has been on four space missions The students at the presentation seemed to really grasp this point and Hannah, age 12, said: "I thought the presentation was really good because it was really inspirational and gave out a good message, to always try hard and do your best at what you do." Charlie also explained about what it was like in space. This caught many students' interest and most students were asking questions to find out more. Real inspirationCharlie has been on four space missions, including the mission that sent the Hubble telescopes into orbit.听 Before he was an astronaut, Charlie was a fighter pilot in the Vietnam War and later a test pilot. He is now retired and travels around giving talks to both students and adults. He was an inspiration to everyone there, and we are sure he will inspire other children worldwide. Mr Stainthorpe our headteacher said: "Charlie's visit has provided tremendous inspiration and motivation to all of the staff and students he has worked with."
