Christmas
is coming, and Jemima is getting ready.
Her lists
are complete 聳 even that secret one to Father Christmas - she knows
what she聮s buying for her friends and family.
But they聮re
not written with pen and paper 聳 they聮re scribed through her
Dynavox computer.
By a series
of commands, that now come as second nature, she audibly communicates
with anyone through voice activation 聳 even that Gent in Red - if
he turns up unexpectedly.
Jemima has
cerebral palsy, she聮s profoundly deaf, and cannot talk like most
of us, but that doesn聮t mean that she isn聮t going to enjoy her
own cool Yule. Nothing is further from the truth.
She聮s
as eager as any other teenager聟 and so she should be 聳 she even
shares a certain distaste for those Yuletide greenies聟 the Brussel
Sprout.
But Christmas
is still a very special time for Jemima and her family聟.
