Title:
For those in peril
on the sea...
Will Hogg has one of the best views over
the mouth of the River Tyne at Tynemouth - and so he should.
From an early age, he has had a love for
the sea and after being introdced to the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade
by a friend, he has devoted his life to keeping an eye out for those in
peril on the surrounding seas and coastline.
The watch-tower on the northern hill at
the mouth of the Tyne is a structure that is not only a point of observation,
but is also an integral part of the brigade's museum.
Will Hogg talks of the importance of the
voluntary role of the brigade and also reveals a story of a certain pattern
of knitting - a pattern that is unique to each area of the North Eastern
coastline.
