1964: Fashion and feminism
British pop art pioneer Pauline Boty said that clothes should be assets to enhance women and not something that allows them to be ignored or dismissed.
The multi-talented Boty was the embodiment of the swinging 1960s. She was a dancer on Ready Steady Go!, played one of Michael Caine's girlfriends in the film Alfie and was a leading figure in the pop art movement at the time.
In 1963, The Public Ear became the show young people would tune into to understand the rapid changes in music, film, fashion and culture that the UK was experiencing.
