"I had come to Venice for repairing myself."

Transcript

"I saw a gondola workshop in Venice near Ponte Longo. On the water the gondolas are so beautiful. We can't imagine repairing old gondolas. I remember feeling at the time that I had come to Venice for repairing myself. I was inspired to write these lines of poetry.

This is where they come having been bruise by the mainstream.

To the backstreet waters for renewal and a taste of warm sunshine form Guidecca.

They can try again after a coat of shiny black varnish and cleaning the carpets underfoot.

They can try out another section of Grand Canal and sustain a dream for someone else standing on the verge with longing in their eyes.

Not only is Venice itself so beautiful and brittle but we like gondolas, weave our own delicate poetry in the face of the lagoon's menacing tides."
