"Big old grandfather's clock, was lovely to see, you know." Irene and her friends go on an outing to the farm.
Transcript
"I arrived at the farm to be greeted by Anne. The thing is, it was old, old house like - you know. And she's put a, like a conservatory on the one part of it as you go in. That's the only modern part of it. But all the other was old-like, you know.
The old clock what she had to go up the stairs was lovely. Big old grandfather's clock, was lovely to see, you know.
And there was lambs there, and there was a donkey that I stroked, and I thought I couldn't but I did! Which was nice. I was nervous-like, you know, I thought, you know, that I didn't have the confidence to go and stroke it.
Ooh, and there was dogs, and the hedgehog what Trevor nursed. [Laughter], and that was funny as well. Oh it was nice, and we came back for lunch - can't remember now what we had for lunch now, I think it was salad, I think, that day.
I comes on a Tuesday every week. We used to paint with David on a Tuesday, 'cos I like anything like that - drawings or paintings. I did as a child, anyway. Oh, I'd a love it.
So, how did I do?"
An interview with the author
Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm a widow. I enjoy drawing and painting very much. I was brought up in Cwmcarn and I now live in Ebbw Vale. I enjoy dancing - 'old time' dancing mainly and line dancing - and I love detective films.
What is your story about?
It's about a farm trip I went to with my friends. I knew the people who had lived in the farm before the present owners. I thoroughly enjoyed the morning - looking at the farm, the scenery and the animals. I don't remember everything, but I can still remember the grandfather clock.
What did you find most rewarding about the workshop?
I enjoyed it all. It was very interesting. I was a bit nervous to begin with but gained a lot from the whole workshop process. I enjoyed choosing the pictures and scanning the images for the film ... and it was strange seeing my name 'in lights' at the screening!
