"I'm 30 and my mum still yells at me to tidy my room."
Transcript
"My bedrooms a tip, it's like me! In fact, I would say it's the visual projection of my brain.
I'm 30 and my mum still yells at me to tidy my room. But it wouldn't be the same if it was all neat! The fact of the matter is that it's totally organised... yet to an onlooker it appears in total confusion. Yes that's it, organised confusion.
It feels comfortable in my room, at least for me. The things around me all have meaning and all hold memories. They remind me of places and times in my life. All that living accumulated all that stuff!
The thirty pairs of shoes all have a history. Either a night out or the day they where bought. And the thirty hats - none of which I ever wear - each have their own little story that makes me smile.
The blue boat represents a former employer; the light shade came from a friend's cafe... and the totally impractical fur and satin umbrella from a trip to Germany. The computer desk and clothes rail were made from scraps of wood by my partner... and the feather came from a condor called Guss I used to play football with.
There are strange tropical insects, and strange tropical plants that eat insects and some really strange tropical fish.
So you see my room is a tip. It's a special tip. It's my tip! It's me!"
