Susan's son, Alan, took his own life. In 2006 over 40 young males committed suicide in Merthyr, Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon.

Susan has set up a support group to help others since her youngest son, Alan, committed suicide last year. "He was 23 years old and father of two young children. It was a Thursday when Alan hung himself at home" says Susan.

Alan was one of 40 other young male suicide deaths in 2006 in Merthyr, Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taf. "This should not be happening to our young men and we have to do something. I understand it's sometimes hard for people to come forward, but I would urge them to call us or to seek help. I am determined to make this support group a success after reading the figures printed on suicides in the valleys. We are not going to let our young men down."

If you would like to talk to Susan about the group, call her on 01443 413461 or Anne on 01443 410497.
