My Friends

By Emily Smith
July 2003, south east Wales
A digital story from Capture Wales

Emily's friends

Emily celebrates her friendship and shows how and why each friend is important to her.

"My friends are all important to me and so I want to tell you how special they are...

Charlotte, she's mad! She brings light to any situation and has a wicked sense of humour.

Sarah, a girlfriend that I have known for my whole life, she is a good listener and is always there to help me with my problems.

Abby - we enjoy the same things and we are very close.

Out of all my friends I see Natalie the least but when we are together it is like we have never been apart. She is always bound to make me laugh and is totally crazy.

As a group we go shopping, see films, have sleepovers, run our parents up a huge phone bill and occasionally make the mistake of doing makeovers on each other!

Through the years we have all shared equal amounts of sorrow, happiness and confusion.

Recently, Charlotte and I went on a school trip to Paris and shared our very own hotel room. This was exciting for us, as we have never lived together before, it was like being flatmates. We had a great time.

Nat and I have grown up together, we have matured and are now, very different characters, but the bond is still strong between us. I treasure these relationships because I feel it's important to have a friend that always has the time in the world for you. Everyone should have that security, to know that someone is always there for you, in whatever you do and whatever you become."
