An only child, Ed was educated at boarding school where he didn't fit in. Married in his mid 20s his wife died a few years ago. Not at ease with his own company he has never been short of female admirers and his mistress moved in soon after his wife's death.
Pub landlord Ed, is a charmer who dotes on his children and is one of those men who manages to be a man's man and a ladies man.
