Born in Rio de Janeiro, Luciano Botelho studies at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice under the guidance of Dennis O'Neill.
In 2004/2006 he took the Post-Diploma Vocal Training and the Opera Course at Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Adrian Thompson. He has a Music Degree from the University of Rio where he began his vocal studies with Eliane Sampaio.
In 2001 he made his operatic debut as Tamino Die Zauberflöte in the Amazonas Opera Festival, where he has also sung Don Ottavio Don Giovanni, Ramiro La Cenerentola and Il Conte Almaviva Il barbiere di Siviglia. In 2003 he received critical acclaim for his performances of Fadinard Il cappello di paglia di Firenze, and Le Berger Oedipus Rex.
His repertoire includes Nemorino L'elisir d'amore; Nadir Les pêcheurs des perles; Tebaldo I Capuleti e i Montecchi; Orfeo Orfeo, Monteverdi; Il principe La bella dormente nell bosco, Respighi; Luis Carlos Prestes Olga, Jorge Antunes; Fenton Falstaff; Rinuccio Gianni Schicchi.
He has also sung Mozart's Requiem and C minor Mass, Bach's Magnificat, Rossini's Stabat Mater and Carmina Burana.
Future plans include Le Comte Ory in Nantes, La Cenerentola in Nancy, and Orfeo Rio de Janeiro Opera House.
