Emiliya Ivanova began studying opera performance aged 14 in Vratsa, and went on to study with Blagovesta Karnobatlova at the National Music Academy 'Pancho Vladigerov' in Sofia, graduating with a bachelor's in opera singing in 2005 and gaining her master's there in 2006.
She was awarded a scholarship and job offer in the Young Voices competition in the National Opera in Sofia. Emiliya has taken part in several national and international opera competitions and awards include first prize in the National competition 'Hristo Brambarov' in Sofia in 2006 and second prize in the 2008 Lirico sperimentale 'A.Belli' competition in Spoleto, Italy.
Her debut role was Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) with Music Theatre Sofia and she has performed Gilda (Rigoletto) with Teatro Nuovo di Spoleto. Other roles include Amina (La Sonnambula), Camiletta in Jommelli's Don Falcone, Fauno Ascanio in Alba, Sandrina (La finta giardiniera) and the title role Lucia di Lammermoor.
On the concert stage, Emiliya is a soloist with the National Philharmonic Choir in Sofia, performing soprano solos such as Charpentier's Te Deum, Fauré's Requiem and Gounod's Messe Solennelle. She has taken part in master classes given by Renato Bruzon, Bernadet Manca di Nissa and Raina Kabaivanska.
Emiliya enjoys reading, jogging and walking the dog.
