Boys of the Black Stuff

Noel Griffiths, Cliff Williams and Bert Abraham

Three ex-miners from the same valley in South Wales, but with very different experiences of the strike.

Noel Griffiths was a member of the miners' union NACODS and as a colliery official, he had to cross the picket lines which was one of the worst years of his life. Cliff Williams was the Chairman of the strike committee for South Wales and feels that although terrible things happened during the strike, he has no regrets as they were fighting for their livelihoods and the future of their communities. Bert Abraham was an NUM representative and helped to organise the strike effort.

Opening music by The Aber Valley Male Voice Choir.
