Holocaust Memorial Day - Part 2
Later this month on Holocaust Memorial Day, people from Wales and throughout the world will mark the liberation of the concentration camp at Auschwitz.
In this, the second of a special two part All Things Considered programme (Sunday 21 January at 8.31am, repeated Thursday 25 January at 6.03pm), Peter Baker continues his conversation with Ellen Davis, a survivor of the Holocaust.
In part one, Ellen recounted her experiences as a Jewish child growing up in Germany, where she witnessed first hand the horror of the Nazi regime.
At the end of the programme, she recounted how she was placed, by her parents, on a train bound for Britain.
She was given no explanation about what was happening, had no idea where she was heading and had no opportunity to say goodbye to the brothers and sister she had cared for all her young life.
At the age of 10, bewildered and alone, she arrived in Swansea to start a new life with foster parents, but all the while she was desperate for news of the family she had left behind.
