It is Holy Week, and many Christians will be observing it by praying at the Stations of the Cross - pictures or carvings on church walls tracing the events of the days before Easter from the condemnation of Jesus to the placing of his body in the tomb.

For some people in Gwynedd, however, the Stations of the Cross will be taking on a literal meaning on the evening of Good Friday

The Talyllyn railway will be running a round trip taking in all 14 stages of the devotion on a project in collaboration with Tywyn Churches Together. And on All Things Considered this week (Sunday 5 April at 8.30am, repeated Wednesday 8 April at 6.30pm). Roy Jenkins' will be finding out more about the event by speaking to the Bishop of Bangor, the Rt Rev Andy John and to Ian Evans, a lay reader from the York diocese who is the man behind the initiative.

Also in the programme, the G20 leaders have gone home and commentators continue to dissect their plans for reviving the world economy. Far away from the global power brokers, the world's poorest struggle as best they can - among them the community of Kikambala, about an hour's drive from the tourist beaches of Mombassa in Kenya.

That is where a young charity based at Rogerstone near Newport has helped to set up a home for neglected children. Cariad Kenya is the vision of retired teacher Geraint Stephens and his headteacher wife Margaret; but the key figure in the enterprise is Kenyan Anthony Mulongo.

In the early nineties, he was selected by the government as one of his country's 18 brightest students, and he began a brilliant career in print and in television journalism. But he gave it up to care for orphaned girls - currently more than thirty of them.
