John Bell
Last updated: 30 January 2011
On All Things Considered this week (Sunday 30 January at 9.30am repeated on Thursday 3 February at 5.30am), Peter Baker's guest is John Bell, the renowned hymn writer, speaker, theologian, and member of the Iona Community.
From his roots in Kilmarnock to leading seminars all over the world, from student politics to committees of the Church of Scotland, from working with inner city young people to composing sacred liturgy, from a quiet life without a mobile phone to religious celebrity status, John Bell has often marched to different rhythms.
But along his road less travelled there has always been a passion for social justice and the renewal of congregational worship at the grass roots level. Worship that is creative and inclusive.
Later this week, he will be in Cardiff at an event organized by the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement.
