Celebrating RE

Last updated: 13 March 2011

March is 'Celebrating RE Month' - and in this week's programme Roy Jenkins and guests look at the role of religious education, its importance and its purpose. With increasingly vocal criticism of religion, why is it still on the curriculum? What is its place in a multicultural society? And what should we expect of those who teach it?

Roy also visits Maesteg Comprehensive School in South Wales where the GSUS Live project parked its multimedia computer suite last week. Run by the charity Counties, this hi-tech approach to RE aims to teach children about the contemporary relevance of Christianity.

This edition of All Things Considered is broadcast on Sunday 13 March AT 9.00 am and repeated Thursday 17 March at 5.30 am.
