Eye On Wales: Monday 17 September

10 years of devolution

Ten years ago this week, Wales stumbled into a new way of politics as the voters of Carmarthenshire helped deliver the narrowest of 'yes' votes in the devolution referendum.

A decade on, and as part of a special week of programmes on Radio Wales, the architect of devolution Ron Davies gives his personal perspective on what's been achieved since and explores if the new style of politics he hoped to create has come to pass.

"I wanted a new Assembly that would bring direct accountability to the delivery of public services; I wanted to see a government that was inclusive of all the talents that we have in Wales. Above all, I wanted to see a National Assembly that would give us a new sense of confidence, a new sense of purpose in Wales," explains the former Welsh Secretary.

Talking to political friends and foes from the time, Mr Davies aims to find out if the institution he helped to build has delivered his vision for the people of Wales and looks ahead to what the next 10 years may hold.
