In the heart of Cardiff Bay there stands a wall - a potent symbol of a divided community. The plan was to knock it down. Missed opportunity or blessing in disguise?
In the last twenty years, Cardiff Bay has transformed from derelict port to a thriving new community of offices, restaurants, and apartments. But not everyone is feeling the benefit.
According to the latest index of multiple deprivation, Butetown is the second most deprived area in Wales.
One of the original aims of Cardiff Bay Development Corporation was to "bring forward a mix of development which would create a wide range of job opportunities and would reflect the hopes and aspirations of the communities of the area".
So what happened?
Eye On Wales goes on a tour of the area to find out what people on both sides of the area feel about their area and about each other.
If the wall had come down as planned, the question remains, would the old community have integrated or simply disappeared?
