Insomnia Hell

This week Eye On Wales follows Haley Evans on a search for a cure for chronic insomnia. Her journey is full of frustration, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Last updated: 12 June 2011

29 year old Haley lives in Cardiff. By day she works in a carpet shop, and by night she pulls pints.

She works long hours, and she needs the money to pay the bills. But lack of sleep is having a serious impact on her ability to function.

Haley has had insomnia for six years and rarely gets more than four hous sleep a night.

She doesn't want to take medication, but she's finding it hard to find an alternative.

A consultation with Dr Jason Ellis of the Northumbria Centre for Sleep Research however gives her some hope. He recommends CBTi cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia.

The problem is, the programme was unable to find anyone in Wales who practices CBTi.....
