Stephen Donald: I think sport is one of the great teachers of life. It teaches you about getting on with people, working as a group and gives you the opportunity to get involved in activities outside of school.

RYG: How can you apply these lessons from sport to school?

SD: It's the discipline and actually sitting down, doing your school work and focusing in on something. The team environment of sport teaches you how to get on with people and how to deal with situations in everyday life.

RYG: What has sport given you?

SD: Sport has given me everything really. It's given me some great lessons in life on how to bounce back, how to take every day as it comes and to enjoy it, as you don't know what is around the corner. It's been rugby for me, but when I was younger being involved with sports taught me discipline. It's just a great learning tool.

RYG: What message would you give to young people that look up to you?

SD: Just get involved and give sport a go, no matter what it is, and enjoy it. That's why we are all doing it.

If you cut corners in training, you're walking into that ring under a false sense of security.
