Is your daily routine a busy one? Mine is. I'm always tired in the morning and as soon as work finishes the first thing I want to do is get back home as soon as possible for a cup of tea and to put my feet up. We all know that we should be getting at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, but when you've been at work all day changing into your tracksuit may will be the last thing on your mind! One way to avoid this is to incorporate little bursts of exercise into your daily routine by walking or cycling to work.
Health benefitsMaking the change to walking or cycling to or from work will really help your body and mind to stay in shape. Taking regular exercise can reduce your risk of developing heart disease and stroke, and help to prevent high blood pressure, control weight and cope with stress. This doesn't need to be a huge change - most people start small. Perhaps you could get off the bus one stop earlier than you usually do, or park your car a little further away, so that you can increase the amount of time you spend walking. Getting startedTo get you started, CSV Action is giving away free booklets which are full of hints, tips and advice to help you change your walking to work habits, as well as a handy time sheet to chart your progress.
