The winning image was chosen by public vote, from ten finalists that made it to the online poll. It was taken in St Peter Port, Guernsey by Weather Watcher Chris Cumulus whose real name is Chris Russell.

The photo was taken on Sunday 21 August 2022 just before dawn along the coast road leading from the island's capital to the north of the Island. Looking across Belgrave Bay to the East with the islands of Herm & Jethou in the distance, the sky was ablaze with colour. Only minutes later the intense colours disappeared and the sun crossed the horizon.
