Underground - Show 2 - 13/03/05

Listen online to the second show in our radio series dedicated to local bands and musicians.

'Underground' - the brand new live six-part radio series showcasing local bands and artists continued on 大象传媒 Radio Swindon and 大象传媒 Radio Wiltshire on Sunday March 13th.

Presented by station champion of local live music Daniel Garrett, the show is designed to bring the best of the county's unsigned bands and up-and-coming musicians to a wider audience.

Daniel has been sent a mountain of demos from local bands and each week he plays the very best of them. The show is also crammed with a guide to the best gigs taking place around the area, band interviews and live acoustic sessions, gig reports, and interviews with Wiltshire music scene movers and shakers.

'Underground' kicked off its six week run on Sunday March 6th and Daniel was grateful for the overwhelming response it received from listeners interested in the Wiltshire music scene.

"I received lots of great feedback from people who enjoyed the music and were turned on to bands they'd not previously heard - this is what the show is all about!" he said.

"I don't think it's hyperbolic to say that given the quality of some of the demos I'm playing, Wiltshire really is home to some world class acts."

This week's special guests were Swindon's soulful countrified rockers The Hour. Singer Onze and drummer Chris from the band played an acoustic song 'Out in the Streets' live in the studio and chatted about their story so far.

In the Movers and Shakers section, Daniel talked to Trowbridge-based band management guru and promotor Ben Hawkes from Rookie Promotions about his involvement in the thriving West Wiltshire music scene.

As well as a run-down of all the best gigs taking place in and around Wiltshire this week, Daniel played demos from the likes of Broken Daylight, Finest Little Space, Boy, Aaapha, Decora, Whitmore, The Cedar and The Last Calm.

Good work, keep it up nb: Dan's replaced a Christian music show right, which was aimed at one faction right? whereas Dan's playing a whole range of stuff that can appeal to almost everyone right? Surely Underground's gotta be worth more than 6 weeks . . Come on bbc, you know it makes sense!

Sorry that i missed the show, this is the first i've heard of it. I was wondering did you hear or go to George Ward Rocks on the 12th of March?

Really enjoyed last weeks show, but yesterdays utterly blew me away, inparticular Broken Daylight & The Hour. Thank you for this amazing show;this is what Radio is all about-well done!I hope it will prove to be a resounding success and continue to spotlight the outstanding talent that's out there. Wiltshire should be very proud of it's 'children' and support them all the way.

why arent we hearing any of the heavy bands from the area? there is such a thriving metal scene in the west country at the moment it seems half assed to be ommiting them from the playlist.

Hehe, Thanks loads for the airplay, so glad I class as Out There! Nicest thing I've heard all week. Good show man, only one complaint though: The gay-rap crew I work for is called The Deep Donkey Crew, and my pseudonym is DJ Manfist. Get it straight(er) man! ;)
