UNDERGROUND - New Years Eve Special - 31/12/06

大象传媒 Radio Swindon and 大象传媒 Radio Wiltshire's show dedicated to local musical talent returned for an all-new one-off New Years Eve special taking a listen back to the best acts we heard last series and looking ahead to 2007. Listen online.

UNDERGROUND - 大象传媒 Radio Swindon and 大象传媒 Radio Wiltshire's weekly radio show dedicated to local bands and musicians returned for an all-new one-off New Years Eve special show on Sunday.

UNDERGROUND - which finished up its third series in September features the latest band demos, a guide to the best gigs taking place around the area, band interviews, exclusive live sessions, gig reports, and interviews with Wiltshire music scene movers and shakers.

For this one-off holiday special, presenter Daniel Garrett played some new tracks from some of the best bands heard on the last series. But as always the emphasis was on new talent so the playlist for this show included some great new local acts destined for big things in 2007.

Daniel invited the man at the centre of one of Trowbridge's finest new bands into the studio for a chat.

Chris Turtell from grungy art-rockers Petrol came in to talk about the band which formed from the ashes of The Phoebus Mass and Petrol exclusively recorded two songs live which were played on the show.

UNDERGROUND roving reporter Marie Lennon had been out and about on the local live music circuit and met Holly Partridge from 60s-influenced Swindon girl-group The SheBeats.

She found out what it's like for one of the very few girl bands making their way on the male-dominated local scene.

The local music scene Mover and Shaker this week was Nick Allen from highly-successful local recording studios NAM in Holt.

He talked about getting started with an 8-track home studio bought from rock legend Peter Gabriel who lives locally, as well as revealed his picks for 2007 out of the many local bands who have recorded their demos at his studios.

And Shaun Buswell returned for 'The Buzz with Buswell' - he took a look back over the ups-and-downs of the Wiltshire music scene in 2006.

Shaun also gave his usual run-down of all the best gigs talking place in and around Wiltshire over the first few days of the New Year.

On the UNDERGROUND playlist for this show were:

Arc - 'Cape Canaveral'
Patchway Theft - 'Go'
Iron Hearse - 'Wrong Remains'
Petrol - 'Late Night Lie-In' (Live)
Petrol - 'I Never Wanted' (Live)
The SheBeats - 'Dirty Secret'
Black Eye Dog - 'Ocean'
Sharp End First - 'Warchie'

You can listen back to previous series of the show by clicking the UNDERGROUND link on the right.

UNDERGROUND will return for series four in Spring 2007. Wiltshire bands and musicians who wish to be considered for that should send in their demos to Daniel Garrett, UNDERGROUND, 大象传媒 Wiltshire, Broadcasting House, 56-58 Prospect Place, Swindon, Wilts, SN1 3RW.

Thank you Shaun & Dan NAM is an excellent place to record and i would recommend it to most bands that have a little bit of cash and want a quality recording plus there are many fantastic producers and engineers within it's locality. All the best for 2007 Buswell
