Think of children's TV in the early 1980s and the name Timmy Mallet is bound to pop up! With his trade mark wacky glasses, his side kick Magic the cockatiel and his famous pink foam mallet - he was cult viewing for kids of the time. More recently he appeared in the eighth series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!. After annoying many of the contestants with his irritating giggling he was the fourth contestant to be voted off the show. Timmy Mallet and Rolf Harris. But under those wacky glasses, well known catch phrases including "utterly brilliant!" and "bleurgh!" Timmy Mallet is actually a well regarded artist. Painting in both acrylics and oil, a selection of his paintings are currently on display in Marlborough at the Ridgeway Gallery in London Road. Also at the gallery are ceramics, glass, wood, jewellery, millenary and photography. Timmy's original work of Stonehenge emerging out of the blue grey haze of Wiltshire will be on offer along with a selection of enhanced limited edition signed prints - canvas reproductions of Timmy's original paintings, which have been embellished with further paint by Timmy. I lived abroad in the 1980s so I missed his heyday. I selected his work because I felt it reflects the wonderful scenic countryside and Wisteria-covered houses of the Marlborough area." And Isobel isn't Timmy's only fan. Rolf Harris, a well regarded artist himself, is a huge admirer of his work and they even share painting tips when they get together. Timmy draws inspiration from his travels around the world, not least his time in Australia as an I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! contestant, with his sketch book and camera constant companions.
