The event organised by 大象传媒 Wiltshire Outreach Manager, Camilla Bassett-Smith for the charity CSV, saw a group of volunteers gather at Mullane House in Moredon to hand out around 20 pairs of brand new and boxed canvas shoes. Mullane House offers supported accomodation for homeless males and females between the ages of 16 and 21, and the inhabitants were delighted with the new footwear. Volunteers were given an insight into the work of Threshold Housing Link which runs Mullane House and were very pleased to find out more about those they were helping. Volunteer Terry Green from Highworth was keen to give something back to society, having been very fortunate in life, and felt that giving the shoes away to those in need was a very worthwhile cause. Phil Smith, operations director for Threshold, said: 鈥淲e always welcome charitable donations like this. Young people these days do not have much money and they are very fashion conscious, so this is great". last updated: 23/04/2009 at 11:18 SEE ALSOYou are in: Wiltshire > Radio > Action Desk > Shoes for homeless |
