6SU disappeared a long time ago and was a small part of the underground complex, the raiway platforms are still there which were for the ammunition depot nothing to do with the bunker at all, there is no lake just a small quarried subway under Box tunnel which fills with water.
Mark Porter
Iwas based at RAF Rudloe Manor in the late 70's early 80's, we had a huge underground bunker called 6SU,(signals unit), with underground lake and railway station, very top secret.I wonder if it still exists ?

Photo's 10 and 11 show the air filtration plant one of several in the Bunker, these used an 11.000 volt system with water washing the air as it came through the filters.
Steve Higgins
The walls of the ventilation tunnels, as they are made out of solid rock would probably be thick enough to block any radiation.
Alistair McClure
Seems odd to have filtration deep inside the bunker, could accummalute alot of radioactive material on the filters. Surely it woudl have been better to filter furture up-stream?
