If that's true, about it being filled in and sealed off this year, that is very sad. Getting to see, and poke about the entire structure, would be a wonderful way to look back on history.

Dougal
This is all being filled in and sealed off in 2008. I know because my Dad is part of the team doing it.

Mark sorry you are wrong there is no siding in Box tunnel, the ammo depot entrance is to the right of the Box tunnel portal and there was never any access to the bunker through this entrance either.Box tunnel does not go through the bunker it goes under it. It is only at the ammo depot that it runs parralel to it and only at the platform level.

Why is this place not a tourist attraction?I would love a look around.

rebecca barrass
not luvin the view!!

Mark
Burlyvole, the main rail link from Paddington to Bristol TM goes through this site - box tunnel. There was an old siding in teh tunnel so that trains using box could come off here. Which they did in WW2.

Steve Somers
So the PM's area would be "swish" would it Mallix, you fool? Why not have a look at the War Room in Downing St. and admire the luxury Churchill suffered?

Burlyvole
Area 17 was to be the PM'S residence,rooms 34 and 35 in Area 14 were the PM's office's.

Steve Higgins
Conrad, the PM wouldn't have a phone in his bedroom, it would be in his office.

CONRAD
If area 17 contains the PM's quarters how come the internal telephone directory lists the PM's phone in area 14(rooms 34 and 35).

Burlyvole
Area 17 was to be the PM'S residence, it is basic as is the whole Bunker, but good enough to live, work, and sleep in. The Queen probably would not have been taken here she would have been more than likely flown out to a safer country, there is no rail link into the site. All fittings and fixtures are still in place some in good condition some not so good.

Sid
remember that everything but plumbings been stripped out and the whole place has been rusting up for goodness knows how long.

mr x
this would have been used for hm the queen transported by train alerted by radar 3 min warning

Mallix
Seriously doubt they'd show where the PM stays. Reckon it'd be a lot more swish than this
