the powers that be in Swindon should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves to let such a beautiful building..inside and out to go into such a bad state of disrepair. The town and its surrounds has plenty of modern buildings and looks like any other town in the UK, but our historical railway village and buildings are unique to Swindon and should be preserved , in order that the future inhabitants have a history to be proud of and a place of interest for visitors to the town.

I tried for a librarian assistants job at the library which I used regularly in 1954. The building was fully functioning then. My then boyfriend used to play table tennis there. This was and should be again a facility for the community.What a Shambles now! Shame on the Council for not doing more to keep this fantastic building alive for Swindonians.

I can't believe we are all still deliberating over this poor building. This could be a real asset for everyone but is an eyesore. It is about time we got on an made sure this building is preserved for hte future. Swindon has a rich industrial heritage but we dont have a very good record of preserving our past for the future. Come on Swindon Borough Council, bite the bullet and get it sorted... or we will have another farce like the pillars of the baptist tabernacle!
