Illegal logging is devastating rainforests in northeast Madagascar but with the government preoccupied by the country's political crisis, the destruction is carrying on largely unchecked.
This means that animals and plants that are only found in Madagascar are being pushed close to extinction, particularly the rare and prized rosewood trees.
Armed logging gangs flooded one national rainforest park, forcing it to close to tourists.
That park recently reopened and Christina Corbett went along to find out more.
