Eto'o ended the 2008-2009 season in Spain with a tally of 30 league goals in 36 games, as well as another six in 12 in Europe as Barcelona famously won both La Liga and the Champions League.

And this all followed a pre-season where new Barca boss Pep Guardiola had publicly stated that he no longer wished to keep the Cameroonian at the club.

But Eto'o finished the season on a high, scoring the opener in the Champions League final as Barca blitzed Manchester United 2-0 in Rome.

That made the Cameroonian one of only two players - Spain's Raul being the other - to ever score in different Champions League finals, Eto'o having also netted in Barca's 2006 triumph against Arsenal.

Still Barca didn't want to keep the three-time African Footballer of the Year who was shuffled out to Italian champions Inter Milan as part of an eyebrow-raising deal where Eto'o - and US$64m - were handed over for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Indomitable Lion has started well in Serie A, his tally of six goals in 12 games impressive in a league that tends to make life tough for forwards.

Once installed as captain by French coach Paul Le Guen in August, Eto'o's Cameroon went from two points adrift of Group A to top of the table in the blink of an eye.

As the Indomitable Lions proved their steel when triumphing in four must-win games, the 28-year-old scored three times as his side qualified an impressive four points clear.

For Barcelona and Cameroon in 2009, Samuel Eto'o has been unstoppable.
