Robert McKee has been an actor, director and screenwriter.
He is best known for his "Story Seminar" screenwriting course and for being the world's pre-eminent lecturer on story design and screenwriting.
He's lectured in New York, Los Angeles, London, Barcelona, Munich, Toronto, Vancouver, Helsinki, Oslo, Sydney and more than fifteen other cities around the world. To date, over 35,000 students have taken the course, which has been described as "essential to anyone serious about the craft of screenwriting".
As part of the course, he analyses the classic 1942 film Casablanca, saying "No film, as an example of everything in my course, is as complete as Casablanca… It has a central plot, five subplots - it is an incredible mixture of love story and political drama, comedy, action and music."
Robert has written a best-selling book based on his course called Story (published by Methuen).
