President Barack Obama was elected because of a message of unity - but many of those who did not vote for him are not interested in listening.
Obama's key campaign pledge was to make healthcare affordable to every American. It helped him earn a solid majority of votes.
Yet even before the bill was passed, the minority, the Republicans in Congress, were vowing to repeal the legislation as soon as they regain the majority, other Republicans were vowing to challenge the bill in the Supreme Court.
Even when the patient protection and affordable care act was passed, the legislative process was still not complete. Leaders of the House and Senate have to meet to iron out the differences between their two bills before sending the revised legislation back for one more vote.
