In my opinion, that's not very serious thing to share. It won't make some scandals in the hospital, forgetting secret is the best way she must do with it.I think it's better to get them out in the open among friends. In my opinion, if Alice wants to win Dr.Laver's respect, then she should keep his secert to herself otherwise he would feel inferior to other people. And nobody is looking to feeling this way. Besides, if his fear of lifts were an open secret, it would make him feel uneasy being at work and resenful toward Alice because she is likely the only one who is able to spill the beans. If I were in Alice's shoes, I would keep his secret because I would not only save Dr.Laver's face but also score points with him. It depends. There are two types of secrects, I think. One of them - it's something like confidential and private that you can't tell anybody else. If you split on someone, she/he will be in danger or in a embarassed situation. Another one is more like gossip , when you talk with a friend. It's fine to talk about somebody else's gossip. And for most of the time, gossip is not real. People just treat it as a joke.

Personally, I think Alice should keep the secret on scaring of lift for Dr Laver. Actually, he has tried to hide it until he and Alice were in the same lift and unfortunately that lift was broken and finally Alice found out. To be honest, I don't like hearing of the confidential stories. It's really uncomfortable because I can't share it. If it's an accident and it's not good for someone if there is more people knowing it, I will keep it for his/her safe. However, there are something we should not hide it, for instance: when you know someone doing something bad such as crime.

Besides, isn't it odd hearing someone asking us: "could you keep a secret?"
