Didier Drogba

On the opening day of the 2009/2010 season, the unthinkable was happening to Chelsea. They were losing to Hull City FC, that is of course until Didier Drogba's two goals snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. That was a sign of things to come from the 32-year-old-Ivory Coast forward.

Since January 2010, Drogba has continued to bang in goals for club and country. His tally of 37 goals in 40 appearances for Chelsea, went a long way in helping the London side to the double last season, and making him the league's highest goal scorer.

As Ivory Coast captain at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup, Drogba was the standout player in an Elephants squad that promised so much but delivered little.

Ironically, Drogba has been quoted as saying he's not crazy about scoring goals and since the beginning of the new season, he's been more provider than finisher with his assists helping the likes of Salomon Kalou, Florent Malouda and striking partner Nicholas Anelka to a bagful of goals each.

Drogba is one of the deadliest finishers in the game today. His passion for the game sometimes boils over in a fiery temper, but there is little doubt that Drogba is a towering figure anytime he's on the pitch.
