Studied French and German at Cambridge University and holds a post-graduate diploma in broadcast journalism.
Joined 大象传媒 Radio 5 Live as a producer in 1994. He spent a stint presenting the Weekend Breakfast programme before fronting 大象传媒 Radio 5 Live's Euronews programme.
He presented 大象传媒 Radio 4's Crossing Continents, The Citizens, The MEPs and the documentary What's so Special About the Norwegians?, which was nominated for a Sony award.
Speaks fluent German, French fairly fluently and Spanish and Norwegian.
He plays the piano, sings badly at parties, reads lots of modern fiction, likes cooking and French and Spanish wine.
