Michael Jackson's Chimp

Michael Jackson's memorial service is thought to have been watched by over a billion people worldwide.

He had fans all over the world - including Africa.

Michael Jackson referred to the continent frequently in his music. He travelled there in 1992 in search of his roots.

During the tour, he met Marie-Claude Coulibaly. Marie was working in a hotel at the time but Michael's pet chimpanzee took a shine to her.

Marie was hired on the spot as the chimp's chief carer. She looked after the chimp when Michael had to leave and took care of it until his return.

Outlook's Ivory Coast reporter, John James, met Marie and heard local reaction to Michael Jackson's death.
