Return to Swat

Two million people were displaced in May when Pakistan's army took on the Taliban in Swat valley.

Since then, more then 350,000 refugees have returned to their homes, following the government assurance that the area is now 'safe'.

Outlook has been receiving updates from local journalist, Adnan Rashid. In May, he described shooting between the two sides going on outside his door and that he feared for his family's safety.

Adnan escaped, along with 15 of his relatives. They found refuge in Peshawar, but didn't know when they would be able to return home.

As soon as he heard the 'all clear' had been given, Adnan packed up his family - and their possessions - and began travelling back to Swat.

He recorded an audio diary of his journey exclusively for Outlook.
