On 7th August 2009, around half the population of Siaolin village, Southern Taiwan, was killed by a typhoon and resulting mudslides.
The storms and mudslides, which ripped through parts of the country, caused power cuts, enormous damage to property and huge loss of life.
Most of the dead and missing lived in Kaohsiung County, where Siaolin Village is located.
The village was buried under 20 - 30 metres of mud, only two buildings survived intact.
Much to the anger of the Chinese government, the Tibetan Spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has been touring southern Taiwan, meeting the victims of last month's typhoon.
For Outlook, reporter Cindy Sui has travelled to a remote mountain village, which bore the brunt of the storm.
