Elizabeth Turner

Elizabeth Turner was seven months pregnant when her husband Simon died in the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Centre.

Simon had travelled to New York from their home in London to host a conference in the restaurant at the top of one of the twin towers.

Like the relatives of other victims, Elizabeth had to cope with the shock and crippling grief. But she also had to face up to giving birth to a son who would never know his father.

Elizabeth wrote a book about her experiences, partly as a memorial to her husband, but also to give her son William her own version of those very public events.

Her book is called The Blue Skies of Autumn.
