Staring Death In The Eye

Twenty five years ago, on October 23rd 1984, a devastating famine in Ethiopia was first brought to global attention by the 大象传媒鈥檚 Michael Buerk.

The report pricked the world's conscience, leading to a huge charity campaign and the worldwide fundraising concert Live Aid.

Despite the aid effort, the famine killed over a million people.

Mulugetha set up an organisation called Jeccdoo to help children orphaned by the crisis.

He resettled over 1000 orphans and still keeps in touch with them all.

The survivors may bear the scars of the famine, but today they are able to face a much more optimistic future.

Outlook's Angela Robson went to Ethiopia to meet Mulugetha and some of the children he saved.
