A community of folk artists on the outskirts of New Delhi say their way of life is under threat from a slum clearance programme.
For more than 50 years, folk musicians, magicians, puppeteers and craftsmen have been squatting on prime land in the Kathputli, or Puppeteers Colony.
They live in extremely difficult conditions and now the government plans to re-locate the artists to multi storey flats.
The artists say the move will damage their way of life.
Babubhai Bhaat - a folk musician and one of the earliest settlers in Kathputli - took Outlook reporter Suhail Haleem around the area to learn more about the community.
