Back from the dead

Captain Joshua Mantz may have died in Iraq in 2007 yet he has lived to tell the tale.

When the 27-year-old US soldier was seriously injured in a sniper attack, his heart stopped for a full 15 minutes.

However medics did not give up on him and gradually brought him back to life.

He spent weeks recovering at an army facility in Washington, but then five months after he was shot, he returned to serve in Iraq.

Outlook's Aasmah Mir spoke to Joshua, and also to the doctor who saved his life, Dr Dave Deblasio.
