Regeneration in New Orleans

In the second Outlook special recorded in New Orleans, Matthew Bannister talks to people about life there five years on from Hurricane Katrina.

One of the great triumphs of the city's regeneration was the speedy restoration of the shattered Superdome in time for the next football season.

Beyond the Superdome, local communties have taken on their own rebuilding projects, many of which are equally inspiring as Matthew Bannister found out.

The scars of Hurricane Katrina are still evident throughout the city.

But self-help groups, like Beacon of Hope founded by Denise Thornton (pictured, right), have set about sharing practical know-how to help people rebuild.
