Fabian Zurita is Ecuador's oldest mountaineer - at the age of 75, he still climbs regularly and has been doing so for 60 years.
Ever since the 19th century, Ecuador has been a popular destination among explorers and sportsmen for its majestic snow-capped volcanoes.
However a recent study suggests that the glaciers of Ecuador's mountains have lost up to 40 per cent of their surface in the past 50 years.
And for Fabian Zurita, this is a huge loss.
For Outlook, Irene Caselli followed Fabian to the glacier of Chimborazo - the country's highest mountain - to find out about his extraordinary life and the changes he has seen in the mountains.
