Israeli TV's lesbian dancer

In Israel, audiences of the popular TV ballroom dance contest Dancing With The Stars have recently been watching a surprising sight - two women dancing together.

The series has attracted more attention than ever this year, as female sports commentator Gili Shem Tov, a lesbian, broke with tradition by dancing with another woman.

Dancing With The Stars has become a popular TV format around the world as celebrities famous for other talents are paired up with professional dancers to compete for the vote of viewers.

Gili Shem Tov, who has always been open about her sexuality and has a female partner in real life, told the show's producers she would only take part if she was able to dance with a woman.

Gili was finally voted off the show on Monday night, having made it to the final seven couples.

She spoke to Outlook's Lucy Ash from Tel Aviv about her decision to dance with another woman on TV.
